Celebrating Philippine children’s literature with a magazine.
Bookwatch is the official publication of the National Book Development Board (NBDB), the government agency that serves the local publishing industry. The magazine usually reports industry news. This time, however, NBDB decided to devote an issue exclusively to local children’s books.
The cover.
Since the magazine was intended for distribution at the Frankfurt International Book Fair, we chose an image that evoked the Philippine islands.
The illustration depicts the curiosity and joy of kids seeing hatchlings for the first time. The beach motifs, as well as and the pastel color palette, are used throughout the magazine.
