Musical Banig

University of the Philippines Concert Chorus

Pattern Design

A motif for the 2013 UPCC Winter Tour.

There were two considerations: first, that the design would be relatable to their mainly Filipino audiences; and second, that it would be colorful and exuberant in true Chorus spirit.

We decided to use the banig, a traditional form of weaving. It was a direct reference to the Department of Tourism's successful It's More Fun in The Philippines campaign from that same year. UPCC, as a Filipino touring group, wanted that recall. When they performed, it would be part of the It's More Fun experience.

The end result is a digital banig--with a musical spin.
